Clere students get their read on!
From this week all pupils at The Clere School will be reading for 5 minutes at the start of every lesson. Along with weekly library lessons and a rich schedule of library events, this is part of an initiative to further establish a ‘whole school’ reading culture. Staff will work closely with pupils to find books they will enjoy.
Reading is the key to success in both school and beyond, to social mobility, and to increased wellbeing, empathy and knowledge. It supports all areas of the curriculum and also enriches students' lives. The Clere School has been looking at Literacy across the whole school for some time, Headteacher,
Mr. Benjamin Bond is proactively looking at new initiatives to encourage every child to read every day.
“I cannot emphasise enough the importance of reading regularly each day and the benefits this provides for a child’s learning” he says. ”We are all looking forward to reading together as a school!”
