The Clere School Celebrates its Golden Anniversary
On Saturday 9th September, The Clere School invited pupils and teachers, past and present, to a celebration to mark the 50th Anniversary of the school opening in Burghclere.
There was an overwhelming response to the invitation which was widely circulated via social media. The guest list included many former pupils, some of whom attended the school when it opened 50 years ago.
Mr Peter Brown, who now lives in Bournemouth and was one of the first pupils at the school, said “I welcomed the opportunity to catch-up with many former friends and pupils that I had the immense pleasure to know from my enjoyable time at The Clere School; it really was, and I am sure still is, a most special and rather unique school. “
Rick Brand, former pupil said “It was fabulous to see the school and to connect back up with all those that attended. A big thanks to everyone that came along and made the day so good.”
Headteacher, Benjamin Bond, said “I have the privilege of being Headteacher at The Clere in its 50th year and wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. It was great to reflect on the history of the school and to reconnect pupils who had not seen each other for many years.”
The event also saw the launch of a fundraising initiative, to support school projects and to benefit generations of pupils to come. All donations and suggestions to raise money will be greatly received.
Feedback from the event was extremely positive. Future events will be planned later in the year, culminating in a Summer Event, which will be the pinnacle of the Golden Anniversary celebrations.
We look forward to welcoming even more former staff and pupils.
